Shell scales enterprise AI across 100+ applications with C3 AI

Shell has over 100 AI applications in various stages of development and deployment across its upstream, downstream, manufacturing and integrated gas businesses using the C3 AI Platform, including predictive maintenance scaled to 10,000 pieces of equipment. Shell's Real Time Production Optimization solution uses sensor data on pressure, temperature and flow rates to calculate optimum settings, squeezing out an additional 1-2% of LNG production and, at one LNG facility, cutting CO2 emissions by about 355 tonnes a day at full capacity (up to 130 kilotons per year). Shell renewed its strategic C3 AI partnership for five years in June 2021, and in 2021 Shell, C3 AI, Baker Hughes and Microsoft launched the Open AI Energy Initiative, an interoperable ecosystem of AI solutions for the energy industry.

Enterprise Data Analytics Platform and AMI Operations

Con Edison rolled out the C3 AI Platform and C3 AI AMI Operations application to establish AMI operations across 5 million smart meters and build a federated enterprise data analytics platform. The team aggregated two years of data from 13 source systems covering 5 million customer accounts, configured two machine learning algorithms and 50 analytics to identify deployment and installation issues and determine meter and network health. Results included $854M+ in identified annual customer benefit and 2,300+ deployment issues identified within 4 months.
